Ain’t no party like the P-Funk party, ’cause the P-Funk party don’t stop. At any given time during a P-Funk show there are anywhere from 15-25 people on stage. More when they bring ladies up from the audience to dance. This controlled chaos usually goes on until the venue cuts power to the stage and forces the band to stop.

Answer by Deguello Well punk drumming tends to be “four on the floor” (a bass drum on every down beat in 4/4 time) or some sped up variation of the typical rock beat and funk drumming is… well… funkier. Funk drumming tends to involve syncopation or swung notes and doesn’t emphasize as heavily on the down beat.
It isn’t that one style is more complex or harder then the other, that mostly depends on the drummer, but the main difference is just reflected in the overall difference of style between the two genres.
